Charleston: What’s Not to Love?
The secret is out, Charleston is simply fantastic. With beautiful beaches, college campuses that are centuries old (College of Charleston being the thirteenth oldest campus in America), world-renowned chefs, and some of the most significant historical sites in the country, what’s not to love, to see, to eat, to learn?

Not only is Charleston a beautiful place filled with beautiful people, it’s also chock full of people who care and the most generous of philanthropists. A fine example is Charleston Chefs Feed the Need founded by Mickey Bakst, General Manager of the Charleston Grill. Feed the Need consists of fifty two local restaurants who consecutively take turns donating a meal and volunteering their staff to four charitable locations around town: Crisis Ministries, the Neighborhood House, Meals on Wheels, and Tricounty Family Ministries. Every Wednesday for the past year and a half, Feed the Need has fed 250-500 people per week. Mickey and his movement are solid proof that one person can make a difference. I have a feeling this is just the beginning. The distinguished progressive culture in Charleston is slowly lifting off. Anticipated annual events like the Charleston Wine and Food Festival, Charleston Fashion Week, and Spoleto, plus all the events put on by local talented chefs, artists, fashion designers, photographers, and musicians make this city what it is and will be. Everything else is history.
