Recently I had to step back and started paying attention to the little things- what this life is all about. Here is what I found: Inspiration: The people I surround myself with and the people I pay attention to. They hustle, they put themselves out there, do what they love, are a positive influence, and most importantly they keep it real. Motivation: I’m overwhelmed with the amount of interest in All Over It. You all have been asking where I’m at with it, where I’m going with it, why I haven’t been ‘all over it’… oh, but I have. My experiences over these past few months have allowed me to learn, grow, and realize. Your reassurance has led to my reaffirmation, this is my passion. I love to write, take pictures, make videos, and make a difference: I will do what I love. Where ever you go, there you are. : All Over it was born in Charleston and will continue to grow where ever I go. So, thank you. Check out latest posts here

I love experiencing a city for the first time. I also enjoy a good live show and considering I am a huge fan of The Weekend, I bought tickets the second he announced a show on the East Coast. Never heard of him? He’s in a genre all his own.. don’t sleep. The plan was to check out Philly during the day, head to the show at 7, and drive back to Baltimore that night. First stop, the Philadelphia Museum of Art. American Art was first, European 1850-1900, Modern and Contemporary, European 1500-1850, Knights and Shining Armor, European 1100-1550, and finally Asian Art. Three hours later, I was cultured. Then I headed over to Old City to meet up with a friend. He showed me around and we had what he considered “the best bloody mary ever” (no dice) and grabbed lunch at one of his favorite spots. An online review on TLA said no matter where you stood, you could see the stage. Since a lot of younger people were crowding the ground floor we decided to snag a balcony by the bar. Right before the show started everyone got real loud and started taking pictures. I walked downstairs to see what it was.. P Diddy and Meek Mill had just entered the VIP area with enough Ciroc and Chandon to load a freight train. All in all the show was everything I had hoped it would be well worth the trip. The venue was on point for an intimate, incredible, wicked, sexy show. Intro: High For This Montreal/The Knowing.. Encore: Wicked Games (I did not film these.. if you can get through the first few seconds, they’re pretty good)

In between the bustle of East Bay and the hustle on Morrison Drive is one of my favorite spots in town, The Royal American. If you’re ever looking for a neighborhood hangout filled with great people, good times, hot food, and cold drinks, this is the place. Once the Ole Charleston Forge building, 970 Morrison Drive was recently transformed with a “dive bar concept” state of mind by partners Tim Mink, Karalee Nielsen, and John Kenney. Kenney, the operating partner, describes The Royal American as an “authentic and easy place with no pretense and no frills.” Whether you’re heading to happy hour with co-workers and the dog, kicking it with friends, looking for live local music, or a late night bite, the wide open porch will soon be the summer hot spot for all of the above. One of the main visions in creating the Royal American was to introduce a smaller music venue on the peninsula where local bands can build a grassroots following. So far, it’s done just that. Musicians of various genres play sets throughout the week and usually pack the place out. The space is more than accommodating, acoustically sound, and it’s a huge perk to sit out on the porch or a cozy booth and still be able to carry on a conversation. On the more quieter evenings, patrons are encouraged to bring in vinyl records from their personal collections for a listen. The sound of music on vinyl sounds lovely. Should you need some records, the local thrift store is always stocked. The location caters to the Crosstown as a solid neighborhood bar and helps connect areas like Upper and ‘Top King’. Those from over the bridge in Mt pleasant frequent The Royal American for a “go out downtown” kind of evening. There’s no hassle with parking since there loads of it for free and it’s perfect for late night bite, especially for those working late in the hospitality industry. An eclectic mix of libations make up the drink list. The house made punches are a must try, especially if you’re having “just one”. The rum punch hails from a Bahamian grandmother and will carry you away to Hope Town in a heart beat. The bourbon punch is love at first sip, and the vodka punch is very refreshing (think a sprite with a bit more lime than lemon). These generous cocktails come in a large take-home cup and are only $8. The bar is home to the largest selection of canned beers in town with everything from local Westbrook brews to the “old industrial rust-belt beers” like Natty Boh from Baltimore, Genesee from Rochester, Old Milwaukee, and Ballentine. For $3 you can enjoy my personal favorite, the house made cinnamon whiskey. This royal concoction has a bit of fire, but no burn, and is smooth and sweet, but not too sweet. Executive Chef Will Fincher at Monza and Closed For Business, two other REV properties, wrote the book on The Royal American’s infamous...

“My motto has always been, When you do your best, ensure someone else was blessed.” – Renata Dos Santos I was pretty excited when Chef Renata Dos Santos invited me to attend one of her infamous L.I.M.E. dinners. Word on the street is these evenings are a fancy good time. You see, Renata’s vision for L.I.M.E. is simple: Good food, good beverages, networking to create lifelong friends and contacts, and inspiration to follow/support your passions… I dig it. Liming is a way of life in Renata’s homeland of Trinidad. To lime simply means hanging out with the accompaniment of friends, family, good food, and beverages. Renata explains: “I knew I wanted to transfer the concept to the American culture so, a group of my closest friends got together, and over several drinks and good food, we came up with the acronym L.I.M.E. Local. Impromptu. Moveable. Evening. And a L.I.M.E. dinner does just that. These gatherings of the community and local talents take place anywhere from private homes to business lobbies to airplane runways to backyards to warehouses. The idea is to transform those spaces into something unique and memorable. It goes like this, you simply stay in the loop through L.I.M.E. Juice (newsletter) and facebook page. Then, once an upcoming event interests you, purchase tickets from the site. Attendees are then sent an email two days prior to the event notifying where and what the evening will entail. Once I found a dinner I wanted to attend (there’s usually two a month or so), I was informed: Location: the office of the Jericho Advisors on St Philip St Menu: to be prepared by Chefs Enan and Jen Parezo of Twenty Six Divine Cocktail Parings: thanks to the ever so talented Boris Van Dyk of Icebox Bar Services Entertainment: an array of local musicians, performers, and talents alike from cocktail hour to dessert Charities benefitting from it all: The Road to Hope and Onè Respe Each L.I.M.E. dinner is built around the solid foundation of a featured chef and charity. Renata showcases local chefs from the Culinary Institute of Charleston, Art Institute graduates and graduating students, and even the occasional established Charleston talent. Awareness of the selected charity is spread throughout the evening, and 100% of the proceeds from a silent auction benefits it as well. Over the course of the evening, the experience was most enjoyable. I ate great food, drank impeccable cocktails, and enjoyed the company the most. My dinner companions were perfect strangers. Each with their own story sat in the perfect setting to tell it. Urban farmers from Columbia, a chiropractor with common interests, a financial advisor to some of Charleston’s finest, and myself had a real time. In between the silent auction items, entertainment, and delicious bites/sips was fantastic conversation. This is what Renata meant when she said L.I.M.E. is more than just a dinner. The L.I.M.E. experience is her opportunity to bring a community together. It’s an opportunity to combine and promote the concept of...

The first time I heard The Weeknd, I was in yoga. We were just getting into back bends when the playlist shifted from Delorean to what the teacher referred to as “baby making music”… next thing I know, this yoga class was on another level. Afterwards, I asked my teacher (as did three other girls) what the ‘baby making music’ was, “The Weekend, forget the third ‘e’”. The song was ‘What you Need’ I found House of Balloons and since then, The Weeknd has released two more mixtapes: Thursday and most recently, Echos of Silence- all of which you can download right here for free. It’s hard to put into words the kind of music this is. It’s incredible, it’s thick.. either way, you’ll figure it out. I’ve had Echos of Silence for over a week now and am still stuck on the first 2 tracks. The lyrics may bit much for the more conservative, ie: graphic sexual content/drug references.. but the beats, the production, and the music.. will blow your mind. Follow him on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr- as he is constantly sharing inspirations, favorite tracks/artists etc. Crazy how you can get inside someone’s head like this and have barely seen their face. Brilliant. The Weeknd aka Abel Tesfaye has been confirmed to appear at Coachella 2012, slated for April 13-15 and 20-22 in Indio, CA. Via The Source More info on the festival here If you haven’t heard, listen: and almost forgot Here’s another Perspective.
These are some of my favorite local businesses in Charleston not only in 2011, but from the time they’ve opened, to today, and always.. click on the links for video. –Charleston Power Yoga– This place has changed my life. The practice is super challenging and beneficial, the energy is on point, and the teachers are absolutely incredible. They challenge you to challenge yourself and re-affirm the same encouraging words: keep it real, let it go, and breathe. If you want to check it out, shoot me an email for a free pass. If it is your first time and you have a local ID, first class is free. –Dell’z Deli– Dell’z is filled with nothing but love and good food. Dell and her 2 kids, Nicki and Michael, rock this place out everyday (except Sunday). If you haven’t tried it, you must. Rogue Wave Surf Shop: Owner Rhett Boyd holds it down in one of the most unique retail shops in Charleston. He is an exceptional host to many events he has at the shop and is an all around great dude. If you need some new gear, a gift, love to surf, or just want to meet one of Charleston’s finest, stop by 69 Spring for all of the above. Guerrilla Cuisine entertains all things Charleston: chefs, artists, musicians, and locals come together for a dining experience like no other. Get in the loop right here. Main man Jimihatt emails a list of upcoming events and once you purchase a ticket, you are notified the location. Jimihatt takes Guerilla everywhere from out in a field, to the middle of an art gallery.. lots of exciting things going on with GC in 2012, lots. Affordabike If you ever need a bike, need your bike fixed, or anything bike related, Affordabike is the place to go. No question. ..and of course, Cavortress Over a dozen videos are here showcasing why Julie Wheat is a bad ass and why Cavortress is going to kill it in 2012.

I speak for myself, and hopefully most of you, when I say 2011 was a year full of growth, change, and making progress. Whether you achieved a long-term goal or simply made some great friends, I hope you look back with fond memories of whats behind you and are excited for what lies ahead. I’d like to share with you some of my favorite posts in 2011. As I am sure you know, I prefer to make videos over writing articles… –Spreading awareness of and building hype for the Chase After a Cure Gala in February 2011– Chase After a cure is a local non profit organization where all proceeds go straight to the Cancer Research Center at MUSC Children’s hospital. The videos will fill you in on alll that. The gala this year will be held on February 25, 2012 in the Crystal Ballroom at the Charleston Marriott. Tix can be purchased here: Buy tickets If you are a local business/service and would like to donate to the silent auction contact me: Sarah@AllOverItCharleston.com –Charleston Fashion Week– These videos are an all-encompassing view of CFW as All Over It was legit press for 2011. Behind the scenes, under the tents, at the end of the runway.. its all there and this is the only spot you can find it. Creating/editing/and pushing out that much content in 5 days was definitely a rewarding learning experience, for sure. Another event that week was: –The Big Mix– brought to you by KJ Kearny of H1gher Learning. Building hype for such a perfectly executed event like this one was a good time. Everyone of a common interest came together and in the end, the streetwear culture in Charleston got on another level. KJ has definitely got it going on for 2012. Check out his site and follow him on Twitter @H1gher to keep in the loop with The Big Mix 2012. –Visualive– This collaboration of sorts was another rewarding experience. I interviewed several different business owners in Charleston who either have a Visualive screen in their establishment or promote/advertise with the service. The video speaks for itself and is now a solid marketing tool for Visualive.tv. More info on Visualive: the channel in Charleston making progress and helping others in the process. Some other highlights of 2011 include some recognition for All Over It. Here in the Charleston –Digitel– (shout out to Katie Kozar for rocking). And another one: – Rouge Wave Surf Shop– a favorite local spot- check it out at 69 Spring St Looking back, I definitely faded on the video production this year.. and rightfully so. All Over It shifted a bit and became the Marketing Creative for six hotels across the Southeast, I scored my dream job, and there are some solid video productions in the works for 2012… stay tuned.

I have been to Atlanta before, but not like this. This trip was to network, meet, greet, and above all- experience. Where did I Stay? -The Courtyard Atlanta Downtown Decatur/Emory: Centrally located in downtown Decatur and on the outskirts of Midtown. Decatur is a quaint city known for various things.. one being Decatur Square and all its charm. No chain restaurants here, just lots of great little bars, bakeries- - mixtures of the two, restaurants, music venues, and shops. I dug it. This hotel is undergoing a massive renovation and transformation (see video below) and will reopen in February. -The Courtyard Atlanta Buckhead -On the way home to Charleston, The Partridge Inn in Augusta, GA. All 3 properties are undergoing some sort of renovation at the present moment and all 3, regardless of their physical statures, are filled with boatloads of #SouthernHospitality. Where did I go? Traveling alone, I made friends with the locals and was at their mercy to show me a good time. The first day we went to Atlantic Station and Lennox Mall. I am not much of a shopper so, I used this time to people watch. I love how diverse Atlanta is. The next night I ventured out on my own excursion to Virginia Highlands- the highlight of my trip. Looking for a good time, I headed to El Bar, recommended highly by a reliable source. To learn more about that experience read my review via Yelp. Wondering what’s up in ATL?
